When They Call You A Terrorist, A Black Lives Matter Memoir by Patrice Cullors and Asha Bandele
This book was the one that launched me into anti-racism work. They showed me in true color what it is like to deal with continual police harassment and violence. I highly recommend it.

The New Jim Crowe by Michelle Alexander
Even just reading the first chapter made a difference to me in understanding how racism is built into the American system and showed me how slavery never really ended. It was just replaced by another system, mass incarceration.

In questioning his own beliefs, he leads the reader into questioning their own and looking deep within the systems of racism and how to change those.

This one is a good starting place for anyone trying to understand white privilege better and to question their own privilege.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I admit, I have not read this book, but I did see the movie. It hit me deep in my heart. It gave me a direct look at police brutality and how it impacts communities, family and friends.

A book-length poem about everyday racism. This short book gives the non-Black reader a visual picture of what its like to live with racism that affects your daily life.
